New features available in Supernova 4.7.0.0

Supernova latest update intrduces several interesting features:

  • Supernova Agnostic with respect to TestStand and LabVIEW versions
  • NI SystemLink integration: now Supernova includes APIs to communicate directly with SystemLink server
  • GIT support: new Git plugin added in parallel with SVN plugin
  • Improved Backup & Restore and Version Converter stability

Features Overview: Version Agnostic

Supernova checks the current versions of TestStand and LabVIEW and, if there is a version higher than the one managed, automatically generates the correct references

  • Pros: Customer does not have to wait for a new Supernova release
  • Cons: New features included in TestStand not supported
NI SystemLink integration

NI SystemLink improves systems and data management processes with powerful, intuitive web application and an open, extensible software architecture. Supernova now exports all data reports (including Supernova custom fields) to NI SystemLink server, enabling data management processes in SystemLink. Both Data storage management are available and selectable, maintaining the «on the fly» logging feature.

GIT support

Git is a Software Revision Management (SRM) tool to track changes in any set of files, typically used for coordinating work among programmers collaboratively sharing source code during software development. Its goals include speed, data integrity, and support for distributed, non-linear workflows. All the features and simplifications adopted by Supernova in SVN have been maintained for Git, ensuring ease of use and reduced learning time for users familiar with Supernova. For experienced git users, you can access advanced features using the git shell or external tools, like TortoiseGit, in parallel without conflict.

Additional updates:

Both Backup Manager and Version Converter have been revised in their functionality to improve speed and stability, simplifying the upgrade process from previous Supernova versions.
